KUCHING, June 22: The construction of the Tanjung Manis Integrated Administrative Centre is expected to be completed by December this year.

Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Assistant Minister Datu Len Talif Salleh said construction on the 16-storey building worth RM78.2 million began in March 2018.

“The administrative centre will become a one-stop centre in Tanjung Manis (with) all the government offices and statutory bodies under one roof.

“It will also become a platform for service delivery to the people, in line with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) State government’s aspiration to strengthen service not only between government-to-government (G2G) and government-to-community (G2C) but also for the community at the grassroots level to receive various service under the same roof,” he said during a press conference at Wisma Sumber Alam here today.

He revealed that presently, locals had to travel to Mukah, Sibu and Sarikei if they needed to deal with various government departments.

“A total of seven floors will be allocated for the Tanjung Manis district office and related government agencies including statutory bodies, while the ground floor will be used for public services such as bank, postal facility and so on.

“The first floor of the building will be allocated as a gallery and exhibition space to showcase services and products of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) in Tanjung Manis to investors,” he added.

The building will also have a banquet hall which can accommodate up to 1,200 people, an auditorium capable of holding 2,000 people and a surau which can accommodate up to 500 people.

The implementing agency for the building project is STIDC.
