Indonesians, local man arrested for using fake permit at police roadblock

KUCHING, July 8: Seven Indonesian men and one local man were arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, the eight individuals were arrested for two offenses: using a fake permit, and traveling without a valid permit.

On the same note, SDMC said out of the total of 39 compounds issued today, carrying passengers exceeding the limit in one vehicle saw the highest number compounds issued with 18 compounds, followed by failure to wear a face mask (8), and failure to scan the MySejahtera app before entering a premise (4).

Other SOPs violations recorded by the police are loitering in public places after 12am without a reasonable excuse (3), carrying out unauthorised activities (2), and one each for opening a premise that is not allowed for operation, failure to comply with the SOPs for workers attendance, failure to provide hand sanitisers and body temperature scanner, as well as cross-district without police permit.

As of today, a total of 8,999 compound notices have been issued by the police throughout the state.

Meanwhile, SDMC said a total of eight compound notices have also been issued by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing Sarawak through its local government authority (PBT) for various SOPs violations.

Among the compounded offenses are failure to update or incomplete registration book (4), failure to register with the MySejahtera app or registration book (3) and carrying passengers exceeding the limit in one vehicle (1), bringing the total numbers of compounds issued by PBT to 1,253 compounds. — DayakDaily
