Indonesian killed, female pillion rider injured in collision with car

Bintulu, Dec 1: An Indonesian man dies on the spot, while his 39-year-old female pillion rider sustained injuries in a collision with a car at Jalan Sungai Nyigu here yesterday.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, it was learnt that the car driven by a 34-year-old man had rammed into the motorcyclist.

Prior to the 8pm accident, the car was heading towards Bintulu town from Sungai Nyigu, while the motorcycle was coming from the opposite direction.

Following the collision, both rider and his pillion rider were thrown off the motorcycle.

“The injured female pillion rider was rushed to Bintulu Hospital and currently being treated in the intensive care unit, while the car driver was not hurt,” said Alexson.

The case is being be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving. — DayakDaily
