KUCHING, Jan 27: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced an Indonesian construction worker to a jail term of six months for molesting a nurse while he was seeking treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.
Kusno, 52, from Indonesia changed his plea today. He pleaded guilty to the charge framed.
Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to six months jail, with effect from the date of his arrest, which is August 18, 2020.
Magistrate Syarifah also ordered the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence here.
He allegedly molested a 22-year-old nurse at Sarawak General Hospital, Medical ward 5, at about 8 pm on August 9, 2020.
He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments, upon conviction.
The accused was seeking treatment at the hospital due to Leptospirosis since August 5, 2020.
