KUCHING, Oct 26: India Street Pedestrian Mall Merchants Association distributed Covid-19 self-test kits and face mask to the merchants at India Street as part of an awareness campaign on the importance of conducting regular self-testing.

Present to distribute the items are association’s chairman Dato Wee Hong Seng, secretary Bong Lian Huan and Tay Motor Sdn Bhd managing director Aaron Tay.

Wee urged the business owners and the public to conduct self-tests for Covid-19 from time to time to ensure the operators and staff are in the best of health.

“And also to keep themselves safe and healthy so that they can safely serve the customers and build back confidence, while the customers can shop in a healthy environment.

“This is one of our social responsibilities besides getting vaccinated, practising good hygiene and staying away from other people when unwell, (it) will be the best way for us to stop the spread (of Covid-19).

“We can stop the virus spreading, if we are fully aware of our health condition. We need to work together and keep on reminding each other on the SOPs (standard operating procedures) laid out by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC),” he said. — DayakDaily
