KUCHING, Dec 30: There will be no increase in assessment rates for state government buildings and facilities.

According to Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Christmas Gathering today the only increase in assessment rates was on federal government buildings.

Sim said that the assessment rates for Sarawak government buildings and facilities had not increased since 1970.

“We refuse to increase it because we love our city and we believe in our prosperity.”

Sim said that people should build a city which the people wished their children to live in.

“MBKS staff should spend time with the community leaders as they should serve the community,” Sim said.

Also present at the Christmas Gathering was MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng. —DayakDaily
