Imperial Hotel Kuching hosts special iftar for underprivileged Muslim families

KUCHING, March 3: Thirty individuals from six selected underprivileged Muslim families were treated to a memorable iftar tonight, organised by Imperial Hotel Kuching in collaboration with Hope Place Kuching.

They were then feted with a scrumptious buffet by the hotel as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.

Besides the iftar, each individual received duit raya, while every family was presented with Ramadan goodie bags filled with daily essentials by the hotel’s general manager, Patrick Kuek.

This Ramadan, the hotel is bringing back its popular “Jom Makan” Ramadan Buffet Dinner, available daily throughout the fasting month.

Its talented culinary team has curated a spectacular feast featuring a variety of menu selections, including salads and appetizers, hot dishes (on a rotational basis), as well as specialties from the BBQ & Roast Station, Grill & Stir-Fry Station, Pasta Station, Bubur Corner, Street Corner, and Dessert & Cream Station.

Diners can begin their dining experience with a selection of starters featuring famous Sarawak Melanau specialties like umai ikan, umai udang, umai ambal, umai sotong, and umai kerang, alongside aneka ikan masin, various sambal, keropok, kerabu, ulam-ulaman, rojak, and salads.

Must-try highlights include the succulent roasted whole lamb served with fragrant Arabic rice and the perfectly baked whole fish with the chef’s special sauce.

This year, the buffet introduces Northern Malaysian favorites, including Nasi Kandar, featuring an array of aromatic curries, stir-fried and slow-cooked side dishes, and rich gravies. Diners can choose from three types of rice—Nasi Putih, fragrant Biryani Rice, or savory Tomato Rice—accompanied by an assortment of condiments.

Other must-try dishes include Bubur Pedas, a fragrant spiced rice porridge packed with rich flavors, along with the signature roast duck, BBQ chicken, and the classic Chinese favorite, Chicken Ngo Hiang.

The buffet also offers a selection of Chinese-style hot dishes with a variety of soups served on a rotational menu.

Additionally, guests can enjoy delectable Sarawak delicacies such as Laksa Sarawak, Belacan Bee Hoon, Sotong Kangkong, Asam Laksa Mee, Kolo Mee, and more.

For those craving a Western twist, the Pasta Station serves a variety of pasta types, cooked to perfection and paired with rich sauces and an array of condiments.

The buffet spread also includes a wide selection of fritters.

At the dessert counter, diners can indulge in homemade cakes and pastries, a variety of local and Nyonya kueh, creamy ice cream, and a refreshing ais kacang station.
