KUCHING, July 1: The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) will investigate the alleged case of a Federal minister creating a commotion at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to release a foreign tourist detained by immigration authorities.
Its director-general Dato Ruslin Jusoh was referring to a news report published by an online news portal titled ‘EXCLUSIVE: Minister creates commotion at KLIA demanding Chinese visitor arrested on immigration be released’ published on June 29, 2023, which was later quoted by several other media agencies.
“The Department has taken immediate action to initiate an investigation into the alleged incident reported in the news.
“The investigation will be conducted comprehensively covering all relevant aspects,” he said in a statement today.
Thus, he has requested the members of the public to not make any speculation or provocation that could disturb the investigation so that it may be carried out transparently.
Yesterday, Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing issued a statement to say that he was falsely accused of abusing his authority as a Minister to release a foreign tourist detained by immigration authorities. — DayakDaily
