IMetal (M) Sdn Bhd wins overall Premier of Sarawak’s Industry Excellence Awards 2023

KUCHING, Oct 9: Sarawak-based metal roofing company IMetal (M) Sdn Bhd wins the Outstanding Award at the prestigious Premier of Sarawak’s Industry Excellence Awards (PSIEA) 2023.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who graced the event presented the award to the company’s executive director Keng Ben Sen during the 4th instalment of the Awards ceremony held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here earlier tonight.


The PSIEA, formerly known as the Chief Minister’s Industry Excellence Awards (CMIEA), was introduced in 2017 as the highest corporate award for companies in Sarawak.

This year’s PSIEA received encouraging participation from a total of 30 companies which is about 45 per cent increase from the previous event.

It is jointly organised by Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) and Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) as well as supported by the Sarawak government.

The event sponsors were Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad and Licentokil (S) Sdn Bhd.

For large domestic company category, gold awards were presented to IMetal (M) Sdn Bhd, Asteel Resources Sdn Bhd, Amalgated Plant Engineering Sdn Bhd and Taiyo Yuden (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd while silver awards were bagged by Hexagon Highs Transport Sdn Bhd, KKB Engineering Berhad, and X-Fab Sarawak Sdn Bhd.

For medium domestic company category, Senari Synergy Port Sdn Bhd and Taka Cake Supplies Sdn Bhd won the gold awards.

Meanwhile, the silver awards were given to PPKS Ilmu Sdn Bhd, Tanjung Manis Oil Terminal Management Sdn Bhd, Grand Margherita Hotel, Licentokil (S) Sdn Bhd, Borneo Asphalt Sdn Bhd, and Leaves Food Industries Sdn Bhd.

Securing the bronze awards were Kenyalang Integrity Services Sdn Bhd, Karuna (Sarawak) Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Gasing Gemilang Sdn Bhd, Wenhong Plastic Industries Sdn Bhd, Old Street Enterprise, and Greenleaf Food & Beverages Sdn Bhd.

For small domestic company category, Sophia Taha Holdings Sdn Bhd and Toclan Agrotech Company received the gold awards while SM Digital Innovation Sdn Bhd, Setara Vista Sdn Bhd, and Neuon Ai Sdn Bhd bagged the silver awards.

The bronze award winners were Flin Ken Group Sdn Bhd, TK Jaya Plantation Sdn Bhd, Klinik Pergigian Bright Smile Times Square Miri Sdn Bhd, and Thian Sheng Automobile and Services Sdn Bhd.

Amongst those present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Deputy Sarawak Secretary Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel; Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) chairman Datuk Kamaruzzaman Johari; Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) president Dato Sri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg; MPC director-general Zahid Ismail; and SME Association Sarawak chairman Jordan Ong who is the event’s co-organising chairman. — DayakDaily
