KUCHING, Dec 1: A Malaysia Health Ministry Training Institute (ILKKM) trainer was the only locally transmitted Covid-19 case reported in Kuching today.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said this increased the state tally of positive cases to 1,065.
Case 1,065 arrived in Sarawak from Sabah on Sept 20 and the case had undergone rT-PCR test in June while still at Tawau, Sabah but the result was negative.
The trainer had then personally went to a government health clinic on Nov 30 for Covid-19 test for the purpose of travelling back to Sabah for holidays. The test result returned positive today.
The case was asymptomatic and is now isolated and warded at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
Investigation and close contact tracing are actively being carried out at the moment. The case was yet to be linked to any active clusters in Kuching currently.
Meanwhile, SDMC informed that there were nine cases who have recovered and been discharged from SGH today.
Thus, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak have been increased to 1,031 or 96.81 per cent of total positive cases so far.
A total of 15 patients were still receiving treatment in hospitals in the state with nine in SGH, four in Miri Hospital and two in Sibu Hospital.
Six active clusters remained in Kuching namely Besi Cluster (12 cases), Jalan Abell Cluster (15 cases), Baki Cluster (33 cases), Seladah Cluster (9 cases), Greenhill Cluster (91 cases) and Wisma Saberkas Cluster (44 cases).
Sarawak also recorded 33 more persons-under-investigation (PUI) with six cases pending laboratory test results.
Kuching and Miri remained as yellow zones with total 15 local transmission cases recorded in the last 14 days.
There were also 300 more persons-under-surveillance (PUS) registered into identified hotels to undergo quarantine.
As of today, there were a total number of 3,924 individuals undergoing quarantine in 38 hotels and quarantine facilities throughout the state. — DayakDaily
