KUCHING, Feb 11: Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang has been sworn in as the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Deputy Speaker today.
This afternoon, he took his oath before the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at Astana Negeri.
The ceremony began with Idris accepting the Letter of Appointment and taking his oath of office, which was witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Idris took over the position from Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala, who is now Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring).
Idris, a lawyer by profession, is also the information chief of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
State Cabinet ministers and other dignitaries also attended the simple ceremony. — DayakDaily
