KUCHING, Oct 8: The Sarawak International Digital Economy Conference 2025 (IDECS 2025) is set to feature a stellar lineup of global artificial intelligence (AI) experts and futurists as it anticipates welcoming around 10,000 participants to the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Oct 22 and 23.
Carrying the theme “AI & Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges and Community Resilience,” this eighth edition of IDECS will spotlight the intersection of digital innovation and sustainable development, according to Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi.
“This year’s conference introduces significant enhancements, including the participation of internationally renowned leaders in AI and digital innovation,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report.
He made the remarks during a press conference following a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Satria Pertiwi Complex here today.
Among the four distinguished keynote speakers are James Barrat, author of Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era; Dr Ayesha Khanna, a globally recognised AI expert and CEO of ADDO; Dr Justin Cohen, a leading authority in human transformation through AI; and Scott Bales, a futurist known for his expertise in innovation strategy, digital transformation, and leadership.
Julaihi said IDECS 2025 will be officiated by the Premier on the first day of the event (Oct 22), adding that the conference expects participation from local and international delegates, industry leaders, and youth.
“We are expecting around 10,000 attendees, including speakers, delegates, and young participants. School students are also encouraged to attend as guests to experience the many engaging exhibitions and presentations lined up throughout the two-day conference,” he added.
Also present at the press conference were Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) general manager Dato Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng, and SDEC chief executive officer Dato Ir Ts Sudarnoto Osman. — DayakDaily
