KUCHING, May 1: The Icom Cluster has accumulated a total of 62 compounds in the past three days from the Kuching Division health office for flouting Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said an additional 15 compounds were issued today to those found disobeying the SOPs that caused the outbreak of the cluster.
On April 29, 25 compounds were issued and yesterday (April 30), another 22 were issued which added up to 47 compounds.
As of today, 48 individuals related to the cluster have been screened and there are 48 cumulative number of positive cases traced back to the same cluster while nine of them remain as active cases.
Meanwhile, SDMC said that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) also issued 17 compounds to SOP violators with 12 in Kuching, two each in Padawan and Miri and the last one in Sibu.
Out of the 17, a total of 11 individuals or premises were caught operating exceeding the fixed operating hours.
Two were fined for operating past hours during Movement Control Order (MCO), two were found to have not registered themselves before entering the premises, two were captured illegally operating their businesses and one was compounded for not wearing a face mask.
With that, the committee said the cumulative number of such compounds issued since March 18, 2020 now stands at 6,061.
As for the Local Government and Housing Ministry, a total of 14 compounds were issued today for reasons such as incomplete registration details, temperature scanner not functioning, no observation of social distancing, no wearing of face masks and operation of businesses exceeding the allowed time.
Among the 14 compounds, five were issued under the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and another nine under the Dalat and Mukah District Councils.
Thus, the cumulative number of compounds issued by the Councils since Feb 1, 2021 until today is 144. — DayakDaily
