KUCHING, Feb 16: Heavyweight backbencher Datuk Ibrahim Baki garnered the most support in the race for the four Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice presidency positions, securing 910 votes and joining Datuk Len Talif as one of the new faces of the party’s leadership.
According to PBB Election Committee Chairman Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, incumbent Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi received 900 votes, while Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee defended his position as vice president of the party with 788 votes.
Awang Bemee made the official announcement this morning at 16th PBB Triennial Delegates Conference held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching today.

Len Talif officially took his position as vice president in PBB’s bumiputera wing with 687 votes.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi fell short in the vice presidential race, securing 669 and 546 votes, respectively.
The contest for the four vice presidential posts has been one of the highlights during 16th PBB Triennial General Meeting or PBB Convention as it involved the contest between two cabinet ministers, three deputy ministers and a heavyweight backbencher.
The two Cabinet ministers are Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Abdul Karim and Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication Julaihi, while the three deputy ministers are Dr Annuar (Education and Innovation), Dr Abdul Rahman (Utilities and Communication) and Len (Natural Resources and Urban Development).
Ibrahim is the only candidate who is neither a minister nor deputy minister.
There are nine VP posts in PBB, with two set aside for the Youth and Women chiefs, three for the Pesaka wing, and four for the Bumiputera wing. – DayakDaily
