BINTULU, Nov 4: Newly-elected Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee promises to provide the best services to all communities in N67 Jepak.

He said this at a press conference after the announcement of his victory with a 8,784-majority at Bintulu Civic Centre here tonight.

“Yes, I have passed the ‘exam’, and I will provide the best services to all communities in Jepak,” he said.

Meanwhile, Iskandar thanked all Jepak voters who have shown their united support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

He also expressed his appreciation to all GPS component parties who worked hard in this Jepak by-election, which secured an absolute victory for GPS.

Defeating Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Stevenson Joseph Sumbang and Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party’s (Aspirasi) Chieng Lea Phing with a 88.3 per cent popular vote, Iskandar defended Jepak for GPS, maintaining the coalition’s seat count of 76 out of 82 state seats.

Iskandar won a total of 9,638 votes while Stevenson and Chieng polled 854 and 431 votes, respectively.
