KUCHING, July 22: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has clarified that he has never demanded anything from past prime ministers in exchange for support.

Acknowledging the perception of Peninsula Malaysia saying that Sarawak made the demand (for its rights), Abang Johari clarified that he only follows what is written in the Federal Constitution.

“To me, it is our rights. So, you must respond and acknowledge our rights. Whoever becomes the Prime Minister must acknowledge our rights and what we are doing now is based on the Federal Constitution and Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said during the ‘Keluar Sekejap’ podcast streamed on YouTube today.

He was responding to a point by ‘Keluar Sekejap’ host Khairy Jamaluddin about rumours saying that whoever wants Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) support must reciprocate.

Abang Johari added that Sarawak only wants Malaysia to be strong economically to compete with the neighbouring countries. — DayakDaily
