KUCHING, Oct 25: Chieftain Timban Siba of Emperan Munti longhouse in Sungai Iran, Katibas, today claimed he had yet to receive any community leader allowance from the Sarawak government since 2011.

Along with the longhouse’s Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) members, he had then approached Democratic Action Party (DAP) Katibas chairman Paren Nyawi at the DAP Service Centre in Song town to relate his plight.

In a press statement, Timban claimed the community leader allowance was stopped by the Song District Office since 2011.

Paren said Timban was democratically selected by Emperan Munti longhouse residents, but it was not recognised by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Anyway, Timban was happy to learn that the federal government would be paying 70 per cent of his community leader allowance amounting RM950.

Later, Paren presented a cheque for RM3,000 on behalf of DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen to the longhouse’s JKKK. — DayakDaily
