KUCHING, Nov 24: Padungan assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen has submitted a series of 10 questions for written reply during the Nov 24 to Dec 3, 2025 Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting, covering key issues from infrastructure and transport to healthcare, energy, and public finances.
In a statement, Chong highlighted areas where he seeks clarity and accountability from the State Government and relevant ministries including the status, acquisition, and operational costs of the three hydrogen buses launched in Kuching in 2020, as well as the upgrading of the Stutong Link Road from the One TJ roundabout and the TT3 traffic light intersection.
He had also raised concerns over the proliferation of coffeeshops allegedly operating as fronts for online gambling, asking what measures the government would take to curb such activities.
Chong further inquired about whether the State Government would allow for the variation of prices in relation to “transport of material” component in existing government contracts which are affected by the increase in transport costs as a result of the recent strict enforcement of permitted weight load of trucks and lorries by the Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan.
On the energy sector, he asked for details on the investment, operation costs, and revenue generated by the microalgae production facility at the Sejingkat Power Plant.
He further questioned Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on the possibility of implementing the concept of “building and operating private hospital but charges public hospital rates for all Sarawakians” to complement the current inadequate services provided by the public hospital.
Other inquiries include a detailed list of all construction projects of the State Government and/or its agencies in Sarawak, Sarawak’s debt status and repayment terms, planned projects and estimated costs for achieving Sarawak’s electricity generation target of 10 GW by 2030, as well as detailed export and import values for 2023 to 2025. – DayakDaily
