KUCHING, Nov 30: In the spirit of the upcoming Christmas celebration, hundreds of families and church groups turned up as Kota Sentosa welcomed the return of its Christmas Parade 3.0 to Dewan Perniagaan Batu 7 last night (Nov 29).
Jointly organised by the Sarawak Evangelical Christian Association (SECA) and the Association of Churches Sarawak (ACS), the annual event featured 18 participating churches and gathered about 1,000 participants in a vibrant display of Christmas lights, carols and fellowship.
The programme began with a Christmas service at 6pm, followed by the parade at 7.50pm along a 1.5km route around the Kota Sentosa commercial area, accompanied by singing, worship performances and festive floats.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, who attended the celebration together with community leaders, commended the strong spirit of unity demonstrated by those present.
“I am truly delighted to celebrate this joyful season together with all of you at the Kota Sentosa Christmas Parade.
“Christmas is a time of hope, peace and togetherness. It reminds us that regardless of our background or beliefs, we can all share kindness, strengthen unity and uplift those around us,” he told reporters when met at the parade.

Yap also expressed appreciation to everyone involved, highlighting that their tireless and selfless contributions reflect the essence of Christmas.
“As your elected representative, I remain committed to serving you sincerely and ensuring that our constituency continues to progress,” he added.
He further urged the community to continue showing unity and compassion beyond the celebration and extended Christmas and New Year greetings.
Also present were Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai, Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) director Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Penghulu Lai Boon Khee, and Kapitan Lee Tho Fung.
