TATAU, Oct 1: Human remains were discovered inside a crocodile that was dissected by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) today during a search and rescue (SAR) operation for a 21-year-old man who was attacked while bathing in a stream near a plantation estate at Sungai Semanok.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Tatau, villagers reported sighting the crocodile on the fourth day of the SAR operation and managed to pull it ashore near Rumah Win longhouse.

A joint team comprising the police, Bomba, Civil Defence Force (APM), and SFC arrived at the location at about 10.10am.

At 10.30am, SFC officers assisted by Bomba carried out a dissection of the crocodile, where they found human remains inside the reptile’s stomach, including the head, jaw, abdomen, and thigh.

The operation concluded at 11.10am, and the remains were handed over to the police for confirmation of identity.

The search operation has been temporarily suspended and will resume later today.

The incident took place when the victim, identified as Jeffery Masing Win, was bathing in a small stream near his farm hut together with his brother. He was suddenly attacked and dragged away by the crocodile in full view of his brother, who attempted to rescue him but failed. — DayakDaily
