KUCHING, April 30: Hock Seng Lee (HSL) will open its latest clubhouse at La Promenade tomorrow (May 1) at 10am, marking the launch of a RM2.8 million residents’ facility at Precinct Grande, accompanied by a weekend of activities in partnership with Level Up Fitness.
According to a media release, the Grande Clubhouse serves as the centrepiece of Precinct Grande, the third residential phase within the 200-acre La Promenade gated community. It is also the most expensive residents’ facility developed by HSL to date.
Spanning three storeys with a built-up area of 8,126 sq ft, the clubhouse features dedicated spaces for a gym, yoga studio, reading nook and relaxation areas. The ground floor is anchored by a multi-purpose room and a 24-metre saltwater swimming pool. The facility also provides wheelchair-friendly parking bays to ensure accessibility.
Designed by acclaimed architect couple Ming Ngi and Suh Chee of MNSC, the clubhouse is set within HSL’s signature landscaped environment, surrounded by more than 100 curated plant species.

Exclusively reserved for the 90 homeowners of Precinct Grande, positioned as the most luxurious phase within La Promenade, the clubhouse reflects a design-led approach focused on space, comfort and integration with nature.
“We knew from the planning stages in 2017 that this clubhouse had to be special. We told MSNC to design without limitations. We asked them to design what they wanted, and we would build it closely to their specifications.
“The result is a striking off-form concrete structure, with a high, cathedral-like atrium above the gym, views towards the landscaping, and flexible, functional spaces that can be naturally ventilated or air-conditioned,” said HSL managing director Datuk Paul Yu Chee Hoe.
Yu said HSL’s engineering team worked closely to ensure the original architectural vision was delivered with minimal compromise.
“This is reflected in the large column-free spaces, double-height glazing and steel staircases. Even the mechanical and electrical systems were carefully integrated into the structure so they remain hidden, preserving a clean and minimalist aesthetic.
“Everything we have done at the clubhouse reflects the La Promenade ethos of going the extra mile. Sometimes, what you don’t see is what we are most proud of. You do not see telephone or electrical poles. What you see instead is greenery,” he added.

To mark its opening, the Grande Clubhouse will be open to the public for at least three weekends as part of HSL’s property showcase and community engagement programme.
For the inaugural weekend, HSL has partnered with Level Up Fitness, which will host a series of health and fitness activities, including gym sessions, yoga and pilates classes.
“HSL and Level Up Fitness first worked together almost a decade ago when we helped design La Promenade’s first clubhouse at Precinct Luxe,” said Level Up Fitness founder Kenny Sia.
“I remember being impressed even then, because it is rare for a developer to involve a gym operator so early in the process. We were invited to provide input from the start.
“At Clubhouse, there is a real luxury of space. Residents will be spoilt for choice, they can train in the gym, do cardio, swim, or simply relax and read surrounded by landscaping. Level Up coaches can also be booked for private sessions.”

spaces for fitness, yoga, reading, and relaxation.
Sia also commended HSL for incorporating an automated external defibrillator (AED) at the clubhouse.
“We raised the idea during preparations and HSL immediately agreed. That reflects HSL’s professional-led approach,” he said.
Launched in 2017, La Promenade is one of East Malaysia’s largest gated communities, master-planned as a “township within a park”. The development has since driven HSL to establish its own landscaping and property management teams.
Today, HSL’s landscaping division employs 30 staff. The main boulevard alone features more than 1,300 Norfolk pine trees and over 22,000 tea-leaf shrubs, while each precinct incorporates at least 10 different plant species.

The company is currently refining La Promenade’s green masterplan, which aims to create a 7km network of landscaped walkways linking a green loop and the main boulevard.
HSL executive director Simon Lau has previously described La Promenade’s landscaping as its “signature dish”, a guiding principle that continues to shape every new phase of the development.
