KUCHING, May 25: Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing emphasises the importance for the hotel industry to understand that the quality of hotel stays and washrooms has a significant impact on tourists’ perceptions of the country.
Tiong also urged hoteliers, their management, and service teams to work with Motac to restore the image and reputation of the country.
“Today, I had the privilege of attending the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Hospitality Leadership Conference (HLC) organised by MAH in Petaling Jaya.
“During my speech, I shared my thoughts and ideas on the state of the industry, and expressed our concerns that Motac continues to receive complaints and negative feedback from tourists regarding various issues in hotels.
“These include cleanliness problems, lack of courtesy at check-in counters, coffee houses, and restaurants; unsatisfactory room service and housekeeping; bad-quality or unchanged hotel linen; unpleasant odours in carpets; cleanliness of toilets; malfunctioning elevators, and more,” he said in a post on his official Facebook Page today.
Additionally, he affirmed that Motac is committed to assisting the hospitality industry in attaining the level of excellence that both travellers and hoteliers expect. — DayakDaily
