KUCHING, Apr 26: Two areas in Sarawak were among several nationwide that were issued a Level 1 alert for hot weather by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement, the department said that warnings were issued to Limbang and Marudi.
Other areas that received similar warnings were the entire state of Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Pendang, Padang Terap, and Sik), Perak (Kuala Kangsar and Hulu Perak), Pahang (Temerloh and Jerantut), Kelantan (Pasir Mas and Jeli), and Sabah (Beaufort).
“A Level 1 or alert status is issued when the daily maximum temperature in an area reaches 35 to 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days,” said the department.
Members of the public are advised to stay hydrated, keep themselves cool, protect themselves when going outside, such as by wearing sunglasses and using sunscreen, and limit strenuous activities as well as outdoor activities. — DayakDaily
