BINTANGOR, June 10: An unemployed man lost his life while his pillion rider sustained serious injuries after a homemade bomb of their own design which they had placed in their motorcycle basket exploded yesterday.

A police team immediately rushed to the scene.

“Investigations showed that the homemade bomb, which was placed in the motorcycle basket had detonated, igniting the fuel tank in the machine,” he said.

DSP Sekam said the rider, aged 23, died on the spot while his pillion rider, 53, suffered serious injury to his legs and thigh.

He was rushed to Sarikei Hospital for treatment.

“Our investigation also revealed that the homemade bomb was to be used by the duo to hunt for wild animals in the forest,” he said.
