KUCHING, Jan 15: Hock Lee Hotel & Residences has step up to assist flood victims by offering complimentary accommodation up to two nights per family.

As rainfall continuously pours in the last few days, it has forced more people out of their homes and into temporary relief centres with the number of flood victims in the state increasing.

As at noon Jan 14, some 1,179 people were sheltering at 12 flood relief centres in Kuching.

Hock Lee Hotel & Residences operations manager Milen Satap said they understood the added complexities caused by Covid-19 outbreak, hence flood relief centres cannot accommodate as many people as it used to.

“Therefore, we are offering families housed in flood evacuation centres who have infants below the age of two or elderly, above the age of seventy-five, complimentary accommodation in our apartment suites for two nights.

“Those eligible must obtain documentation from the officer-in-charge at the respective flood evacuation centre,” Milen said in a statement.

He added that the management strongly believes in the responsibility to support the communities where everyone live, work and travel.

They are also lending a helping hand to flood victims by providing bottled water and toiletries such as soap, toothbrushes and other amenities to several centres in Kuching through the Civil Defence Force (APM).
