MIRI, Aug 16: Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) board member Dennis Ngau urges the youth of Sarawak to seek higher education as they will face significant challenges and competition in the employment market.
Dennis who is also Telang Usan assemblyman said the youth should grab the opportunity provided by initiatives offered by the State government via the digital economy.
“I believed that the only way that you can compete in this digitalisation era is via education,” he told an audience of about 500 students in Miri today during the ‘Dreams Realised’ (PRO-DR) roadshow here.
Miri was the 11th stop for the roadshow before it proceeds to its last stop in Lawas on August 18.
“Seek higher education as you can as the employment market is becoming more challenging…at least you have a degree to increase your career opportunities,” Dennis said.
A total of 28 education institutions from the public and private sectors took part in the one-day event held at a leading hotel here.
On another note, Dennis also advised students to seek information and avoid confusion when selecting a suitable course.
“Thus, it is very important for the parents and teachers to offer their advice in assisting the students in selecting the right course that matches the employment market,” he said.
