KUCHING, Sept 17: Unifi has finally arrived in Bintangor with Taman Bintang, Paris Height and Paris Height 2 now connected to the high speed broadband service.

The achievement, according to a publicity release, was signified with the launch of ‘unifi Dah DiSitok @Bintangor’ event by Meradong assemblyman Ding Kuong Hiing witnessed by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek.

Ding, in welcoming the arrival of unifi at Bintangor, emphasised that this signified Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM)’s continuous effort to bring high speed broadband connectivity to more sub-urban areas of Sarawak.

“This will promote the digital economy and the adoption of a more digital lifestyle amongst the local citizens.

“This expansion of unifi to Bintangor and to more areas in the future is hoped to boost the growth of local industries and propel Sarawakā€™s digital economy.

“At the same time, we need to be reminded that while the Internet opens the door to vast opportunities, we need to use it responsibly,” he advised.

Meanwhile, TM Sarawak general manager Jafer Sadig Abdul Lathiff pointed out that the expansion reflects TM’s support towards the Jalinan Digital Negara (Jendela) action plan recently announced by the government which aspires to deliver connectivity to all.

“As the national connectivity and digital infrastructure provider, TM remains committed to changing the landscape of Sarawak by providing the latest digital communication infrastructure.

“This will spur economic growth and enrich the lifestyle of Sarawak’s citizens in both urban and rural areas through digital opportunities,” he added.

Jafer noted that the need for digital connectivity has now increased exponentially and with the nation adapting to the new normal, digital communications are even more essential than before.

“Thus, the planning and deployment of future-proof digital infrastructure that supports the economic sectors and new growth areas have become more important. This is where TM plays its unique role of delivering digital infrastructure to the nation, thus enabling the Digital Malaysia aspiration,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bintangor is the latest addition to the 39 areas currently covered with unifi in Sarawak. To date, more than 240,000 premises in the state are enjoying the service in Sarawak.

Unifi service in Bintangor will be further expanded this year to cover other key areas such as Maktab Perguruan Rejang, Taman Rekreasi Bintangor, Kampung Abg Amin, Taman Tai Ming, Taman Bo Chuan, Taman Sydney, Jalan Fooh Ping, Jalan Muhibbah, Jalan Bintang, Jalan Kai Ching, Jalan Kelupu, Jalan Dispensary, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jalan Limau and Jalan Kilang.

At the event, TM Sarawak also rewarded selected customers of unifi and unifi Lite from its consumer and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) segments in Bintangor for their long-term loyalty. ā€” DayakDaily
