“So far so good, the response has been very encouraging and positive, having registered more than 15,000, we expect to register more than 40,000 by the deadline tomorrow (Feb 27),” Henry told reporters today before handing over face masks to the public in Bau town.

The programme was a joint effort of federal Ministry of Housing and Local Government, represented by Voon Shiak Ni and Tasik Biru service centre.

According to Henry, Bau has a total population of over 60,000.

He added that some of the people from Bau have registered in Kuching while others through their employers or departments.

He said the people, particularly in Bau should be convinced to get Covid-19 vaccines and not listen to negative comments from netizens.

Meanwhile Voon said only vaccination can break the Covid-19 chain and she also commended the effort by the state government to contain Covid-19 pandemic.

“The state government is doing its best and taking concerted effort to contain the pandemic including providing free vaccination.

“It is so unfortunate that the virus has also penetrated villages, so I hope that the people get vaccinated to break this Covid-19 chain,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, few hundreds boxes if face mask were given to the public at the event.

At the event was also Bau District officer Anielia Siam. ā€” DayakDaily
