MIRI, June 19: Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon suggests that hospitals in Sarawak put in place a policy of listing many alternative funeral service providers to enable families of deceased patients to engage those within their means.
“I found out that the choice of services is very limited at present. Usually, the services that are offered to the deceased’s families are way too expensive. And the affected families often have no knowledge of other packages or plans that are more affordable,ā he told a press conference here yesterday.
Dr Ting raised this matter after receiving complaints about expensive funeral services charged by such service providers in hospitals.
One solution, he reckoned, would be to put up a list of funeral service providers available around the area. Ideally, it should include types of services provided and the respective rates. ā DayakDaily
