BARAM, Jan 15: Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Miri, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, deployed a helicopter on Tuesday (Jan 14) to deliver aid to flood-stricken villages in Long Lamai after heavy rainfall on Sunday.
However, adverse weather conditions prevented the helicopter, carrying the team and essential supplies, from landing in Long Lamai.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the team was forced to return to Miri, with plans to resume the relief mission today for both affected villages.
The impacted communities include Kampung Long Lamai, home to 233 residents, and Kampung Long Balong, with 364 residents.
Joining the mission were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, Miri Division deputy resident Juan Ubit, Telang Usan district officer Ezra Uda, and other officials. — DayakDaily
