MIRI, Sept 11: Several low-lying areas in Baram, Sibuti and Telang Usan were inundated with flood water following heavy rainfall over the past two days.
Among locations affected were six primary schools and a secondary school in Telang Usan, as well as a primary school in Saeh.
According to a Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, the schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Long Wat, SK Long Panai, SK Penghulu Baya Mallang, SK Long Miri, SK Long Laput, SK Morek, SK Rumah Mentali and SMK Tutoh Apoh.
Also affected were 530 villagers from Kampung Long Bemang, and Tuai Rumah Ayai and Tuai Rumah Nelson Ningkan in Niah.
However, no temporary evacuation centres were opened as the situation was still under control. — DayakDaily
