KUCHING, Feb 18: Heavy rain is forecast in Sarawak and Sabah over an extended period from Feb 19 to 23, as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicts the onset of monsoon winds in the region.
In a TVS news, MetMalaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said this weather pattern could also bring more humid conditions, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
“This situation will also cause rough seas in the South China Sea (SCS),” he said in a social media post.
Accordingly, MetMalaysia has issued a strong wind and rough seas warning for SCS waters, effective from today until Feb 21.
