Heavy rain, strong winds forecast over Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman; notice valid until 12pm (June 1)

KUCHING, June 1: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak from this morning until the afternoon.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, and Sri Aman (Sri Aman). The warning, which was issued at 8.50am today, will remain in effect until 12pm.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
