KUCHING, Aug 20: Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds are expected across several divisions in Sarawak this evening, with a thunderstorm warning in effect until 7pm today (Aug 20).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the advisory covers Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Sibu (Selangau), Kapit (Kapit), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, and Telang Usan), and Limbang (Lawas).

MetMalaysia noted the alert is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert that remains valid for no more than six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
