KUCHING, Oct 10: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather advisory for thunderstorms affecting several areas in Sarawak.
According to MetMalaysia, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong (Pusa, Betong, and Saratok), and Sarikei (Pakan and Julau).
The warning, which was issued at 6.50pm today, is expected to remain in effect until 9pm.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” it said. — DayakDaily
