KUCHING, Oct 26: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather warning for several districts in Sarawak, predicting potential thunderstorms until 8pm tonight.
According to MetMalaysia, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Mukah), Kapit (Kapit), Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang.
The warning, which was issued at 4pm today, is expected to remain in effect until 8pm.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” it said. — DayakDaily
