Heavy rain, strong winds advisory issued for several areas in Sarawak

KUCHING, Sept 30: Thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds advisory has been issued for several areas in Sarawak, valid until 1pm today.

According to Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) in a Facebook post today, the affected areas are Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah and Bintulu (Tatau).

The department said a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20mm/hour that is close or expected to occur for more than an hour.

It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily.
