Heatwave Alert Level 1: Kuching, Bau, Lundu among areas with temps up to 37°C for 3 days

KUCHING, July 30: Several areas in Sarawak are currently experiencing Level 1 (Alert) hot weather conditions, with maximum daily temperatures ranging from 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Based on the ‘Hot Weather Status in Sarawak’ map updated at 4pm today (July 30), the affected areas include Kuching, Bau, Lundu, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kanowit, and Marudi.

The status levels are defined as follows. Level 1 (Alert) is when maximum daily temperatures range between 35°C and 37°C for at least three consecutive days. Level 2 (Heatwave) is triggered when temperatures range between 37°C and 40°C for at least three consecutive days. Level 3 (Extreme Heatwave) occurs when maximum daily temperatures exceed 40°C for at least three consecutive days.

No areas in Sarawak are currently experiencing Level 2 or Level 3 heatwave conditions.
