KUCHING, July 22: Despite the lingering heat, thousands of food lovers flocked to the opening night of the Kuching Food Festival (KFF) 2026 tonight, transforming the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Community Hall festival grounds into a vibrant sea of people, long queues and tantalising aromas wafting from every corner.
The familiar symphony of clanging woks, sizzling grills and crackling oil filled the air as vendors welcomed visitors with warm smiles, serving up an array of dishes that drew crowds from across Kuching and beyond.
By sunset, the festival grounds were already packed, with families, friends and couples weaving through rows of stalls, scanning menus and eagerly pointing out dishes that caught their attention. Some returned for their annual favourites, while others set out in search of new culinary discoveries.
Many visitors were undeterred by the long queues, patiently waiting for their orders as popular stalls enjoyed a steady stream of customers throughout the evening.
Every corner of the festival offered a feast for the senses. Smoke curled from grills as vendors prepared their signature specialties, drinks were poured in quick succession, and bursts of laughter mingled with the constant hum of conversations from the crowd.
Strolling through the bustling grounds, visitors were spoilt for choice, with everything from savoury local delicacies to indulgent sweet treats on offer.
Vendors proudly showcased their best creations, each hoping to tempt passersby with unique flavours and eye-catching presentations.
Groups of friends and families gathered around tables to share meals, while strangers found themselves seated side by side, united by a shared love for good food as conversations flowed freely in the lively atmosphere.
For many, the KFF is more than just a food fair. It is a cherished annual tradition where old memories are revisited and new ones are created, one bite at a time.
