SERIAN, Jan 15: Psychological and welfare assistance, including financial aid, will be extended to the three children of the suspected murder victims in Taman Mutiara, Sri Aman.
Health minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the assistance would be rendered immediately in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) standard operating procedures (SOP).
One of the victims was a trained nurse, whom Dr Dzulkefly described as “part of the Ministry of Health’s big family”.
“Discussions are being held with Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and Sarawak Health director Dr Veronica Lugah to provide immediate assistance.
“Psychological support is vital and crucial, and it will be carried out immediately for the three children under our Psychological First Aid (PFA) programme,” he told reporters after officiating at the opening of the Serian and Siburan Health Clinics in Siburan today.
Dr Dzulkefly also expressed confidence that Dr Veronica would take all necessary steps to assist the three children, who lost their parents just three days into the new school term and are now orphaned.
The victims were identified as Angelina and her husband, Andy Roy, who had just taken up the post of a headmaster. — DayakDaily
