KUCHING, April 27: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has committed to taking the development of Sarawak’s Cancer Centre more seriously and finalising the details of the project accordingly.
This commitment was given by Minister of Health Dr Zaliha Mustafa following a courtesy visit on the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
“During my meeting with the Premier of Sarawak, among the matters discussed was the cancer centre which has been brought up on several occasions. We will look at this project more seriously with focus on the details or intricacies,” she said, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.
Apart from that, the meeting also saw the discussion of a number of matters related to the cooperation between the federal and Sarawak governments, especially pertaining to efforts to improve and enhance healthcare services in Sarawak.
Dr Zaliha said the discussion also touched on the healthcare workers and manpower sufficiency in Sarawak to provide the best possible services to the people.
“Other matters include improving primary healthcare in Sarawak. This is important because we want to ensure the health and wellbeing of the people. This is not only about building new hospitals or facilities but requires a comprehensive approach that considers factors such as primary care and public health.
“To ensure the health and wellbeing of the people, we have to look at it from the perspectives of primary care, health and so on,” she added.
Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Federal Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni, and Deputy Minister of Local Government Michael Tiang were also present. — DayakDaily
