Health DG: 19 new Covid-19 cases, no fatalities

KUCHING, June 7: Ministry of Health (MoH) revealed that 19 new Covid-19 cases were reported today, with zero deaths.

Its director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said that from the 19 new cases recorded, six were imported cases, while the remaining were local transmission cases.

“Two of the local transmission cases involved foreigners, while 11 others involved Malaysians, and as of now, a total of five positive Covid-19 cases are currently being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs),” he said in a press conference on Covid-19 developments in the country held in Putrajaya, today.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also revealed that a total of 39 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged Covid-19 patients in the country to 6,674, which is 80.2 per cent of all cases.

“The MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) also revealed that no death cases were recorded in relation to Covid-19 today, and the death toll due to Covid-19 in the country remains at 117 cases, (1.4 per cent of the total number of cases),” he added. –DayakDaily.
