Health clinic at Data Kakus, hospital at Asap planned as part of Health Ministry’s long-term plan

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27: The Health Ministry planned to build a health clinic at Data Kakus, Tatau, Bintulu and hospital in Asap, Belaga as part of its long-term plan.

Deputy Health Minister II Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the ministry is currently identifying a suitable site for the construction of the health clinic at Data Kakus.

ā€œWe (Ministry of Health) are aware that there are approximately 500 to 600 people being referred for further medical treatment to Bintulu Hospital.

ā€œLong-term plans have been discussed and agreed to build a hospital near to Asap at the junction of Murum and Bakun dams.

ā€œWe have discussed with all the elected representatives there and it will be built at the new township and it will take some time,ā€ he said at the Parliament sitting today

He was replying to Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, who asked the Health Ministry on its plan to improve the health facilities and services at Data Kakus, Tatau and Sg. Asap, Belaga.

On the upgrading of health facilities at Sg Asap Clinic, Aaron said a sum of RM700,000 has been allocated to buy medical equipmentĀ while the construction of a dental clinic has been approved.

Earlier, Aaron said the health services at Data Kakus are being provided through mobile services that is the Village Health Team which consists of medical officers from Bintulu Health Clinic.

He added that the Health Ministry used the flying doctor service in the past but since there was roadĀ access at present, the ministry used the Village Health Team.

Aaron disclosed that there were 1,000 residents residing at Data, Kakus, Tatau including five longhouses there.

He said there were 30 patients who visited the Health Clinic at Data Kakus daily.Ā ā€”DayakDaily
