KUCHING, Nov 22: Serian will soon have a new Type 3 (KK3) health clinic to provide better health facility to the people and to ease Serian Hospital strain, revealed Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem.

He said the federal government has approved its implementation and the facility is expected to be completed by 2021.

“This is good news for the people of Serian as currently, most of the outpatients have to go to Serian Hospital which leads to overcrowding.

“So, when the Serian clinic is completed by 2021, our people will have a more conducive environment while seeking outpatient treatment,” Riot told DayakDaiky today.

He disclosed that the federal government has given the assurance during the ‘Question and Answer Session’ during Parliament Sitting recently.

“According to a written reply by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, the project has been tendered out in September 2019 and the Letter of Offer (Surat Setuju Terima) is expected to be issued next month. Works on the project will take 24 months to complete,” he said.

The Serian health clinic project was approved under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) in 2015 and was implemented by Public Works Department Sarawak (JKR Sarawak) under two phases. Phase One involved earthworks, which commenced in Dec 1, 2016 and completed on July 20, 2017.

The Serian health clinic is located along the Serian-Kampung Tangga Road.

On the Serian Industrial Training Institute (ILP), Riot who was a former Human Resources minister, informed that works have now resumed after a short period of suspension.

He said works on the project begun on April 28, 2018 and is expected to be completed on Dec 14, 2021.
