KUCHING, Nov 16: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) and Tourism Malaysia are offering ‘health-cation’ travel packages that include discounted return flights between Sibu or Bintulu and Kuala Lumpur, hotel stays, theme parks and other travel bundles for all healthcare personnel, including nurses, doctors, and pharmacists.

According to a Facebook post by MOTAC minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Batik Air will offer fares of RM69 one way and RM138 return for flights to Kuala Lumpur, with bookings open from September 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, and travel is valid until June 30, 2026.

Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman, said that participating hotels have agreed to provide at least a ten per cent reduction on room rates, while attractions including Splashmania, Sunway Lagoon and Genting SkyWorlds will extend special admission packages for eligible staff.

“These measures show our appreciation for the dedication of frontline staff and help create a better working environment for them,” Tiong said.

Meanwhile, speaking on his attendance at the Bintulu Divisional Health Appreciation Dinner, he said that a surge in corporate-backed upgrades has sharply expanded Bintulu’s diagnostic capacity.

He said ultraportable X-ray machines donated by Press Metal Bintulu since 2023 have pushed the division’s scan numbers from 1,216 to 2,236 this year.

Tiong also noted that the machines are enabling quicker and more accurate diagnoses, particularly for patients in remote areas who face long waits for imaging services.

Bintulu has also adopted the CCMS digital patient-management system, funded by Press Metal and OM Materials, which is now operating in 142 clinics across Sarawak.

He added that OM Materials further supported the establishment of Bintulu’s first Government Occupational Safety and Health Clinic by supplying equipment for the facility.

“Let us build on this momentum with a fully digital patient experience, from kiosk registration upon arrival to receiving medication at the dispensary in the next phase,” he said. — DayakDaily
