KUCHING, Dec 9: Sarawak’s Yang di-Pertua Negeri (TYT) Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has honored former TYT Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud for his 51 years of exemplary civil service, describing him as the revered Father of Modern Sarawak.

Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation to the sacrifice that the former made from the date he joined the Sarawak Cabinet in 1963 until he graciously passed the baton to the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in 2014.

“In an extraordinary span of 51 years of government service, both at the Federal level and later assumed the top leadership of Sarawak in 1981, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, not only personified, but became synonymous with Sarawak’s remarkable development.

“He laid a firmed foundation stone to make Sarawak as one of the most politically stable and economically viable regions in Malaysia today.

“My sincere prayers to Allah S.A.W for Tun Pehin Sri Taib’s well-being and with utmost gratitude and respect, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a peaceful and fulling retirement for him,” Wan Junaidi said in his Chinese New Year message.

In addition, Wan Junaidi expressed his gratitude to the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah for his recent appointment as the eighth Sarawak TYT, a position granted upon the recommendation of the Sarawak government on January 26, 2024.

He was also grateful to all well-wishers who have warmly congratulated him on the significant appointment.

“I would also like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar on his recent ascension to the throne as the 17th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Malaysia,” he added. — DayakDaily
