Hawkers, traders under MBKS’ jurisdiction receive BKSS 6.0, 8.0 assistance

KUCHING, July 9: Eligible hawkers and petty traders in Kuching South City Council (MBKS) received their Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang 8.0 (BKSS) assistance of RM1,000 and BKSS 6.0 assistance of RM1,500 on Friday (July 8).

According to MBKS, the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government had channelled the assistance to the council for distribution to eligible recipients under its jurisdiction. MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng handed over the assistance during a ceremony held at the council’s lobby.

“Another 139 recipients (135 recipients for BKSS 8.0 and four recipients for BKSS 6.0) who have not received the assistance yet due to not having an S Pay Global or personal bank account will receive it via cash handout,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, during the handing-over ceremony, Wee said such assistance would be able to lessen the financial burden on the recipients.

“I hope that the recipients will be able to use it wisely. With our current situation, we need to be very responsible with our finances,” he said. — DayakDaily
