Hawker claims trial to sexually assaulting friend’s underage daughter

KUCHING, July 31: A hawker claimed trial to charges of sexually assaulting his friend’s underage daughter.

Liu Tho Min, 41, from Siburan pleaded not guilty to all three charges.


Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga fixed August 28 for pre trial case management. The accused is also allowed bail with RM10,000 and two local sureties and is required to report to Siburan Police Station once in two months.

He was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-7-month-old girl by touching her breast and vagina and kissing her on her lips without having sexual intercourse on April 2019 and May 2019, at a house in Siburan.

He was also charged with touching the girl’s breast and kissing her lips without having sexual intercourse on July 7, 2019, at about 9.12pm in the front passenger’s seat in a Proton Exora car parked behind Unaco Supermarket, Siburan.

He was charged under Section 14(d) of Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and punishable under Section 14 of the same Act, which carries an imprisonment term not exceeding twenty years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.
