KUCHING, April 6: Phase 1 of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2023 project at SK Sungai Stutong BDC has been officially handed over, delivering a covered open school hall that is already providing students with a safer and more conducive space for learning and school activities.
Implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) with an allocation of RM200,000, the project involved constructing the first half of the intended open hall at the existing court site.
While only partially completed, the hall is already enhancing the school’s facilities and creating a better environment for students.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, in a statement today, said the completed Phase 1 is an important milestone, but more work is needed to fully realise the vision of a complete hall.
“Given the limited RTP funds available, I have to carefully prioritise and allocate resources across various urgent needs in the constituency to ensure that all communities benefit fairly.
“While Phase 1 could only deliver part of the hall, I remain committed to seeing this project through to full completion,” he said.
Phase 2 of the project, funded under Yap’s 2026 RTP allocation of RM300,000, will complete the hall, including a stage and other essential facilities.
During the handover, Yap instructed JKR to urgently prepare the scope of works and Bill of Quantities (BQ), with drawings and documentation targeted for completion by the end of April 2026 to ensure timely implementation. — DayakDaily
