Half-naked John Doe drifting in river turns out to be Covid-19 positive, 12 officers sent for swab tests

KUCHING, May 10: A John Doe found afloat on a river near Foochow Road clad in only a pair of short pants turned out to be positive for Covid-19.

The unidentified dead body that was already bloated and decaying, when first spotted by residents nearby, was quickly secured with a rope to prevent it from drifting away.

The authorities including one investigator and two policemen arrived later to investigate the scene and retrieve the body before sending it to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) morgue at about 2pm on May 8.

Following the confirmation that the victim was a Covid-19 case, the three officers were immediately sent to take Covid-19 swab tests and instructed to undergo self-quarantine at home for seven days.

Apart from the trio, nine other officers who were on duty at the Tabuan Jaya Police Station were also sent to take Covid-19 tests. — DayakDaily
